From blank page to printed grid
Pick the grid
Choose graph, coordinate plane, dot, isometric, hexagon, polar, logarithmic or knitting paper.
Set the size
Use a preset such as 1/4 inch or 5 mm, or type any square size in inches or millimetres.
Download and print
Save a PDF, PNG or SVG, or print directly. Choose 100% scale so squares keep their true size.
Why use these grids
Exact squares
Spacing is set in real units. A 1 cm grid prints as 1 cm when scaling is off.
Vector PDFs
Lines stay sharp from A6 up to A3 because the files are drawn, not scanned.
Specialist grids
Log, polar, isometric and knitting charts you rarely find in a stationery shop.
Private
Everything is drawn in your browser. Nothing you choose is uploaded.
Guides
Short, practical explanations for choosing and using each kind of grid.
- How to print graph paper at true size
Settings that keep a 1 cm square exactly 1 cm, and a quick ruler test to prove it.
- Graph paper sizes explained: which grid should you use?
From 1 mm to 1 inch, which square size suits which job.
- Semi-log vs log-log paper: when to use each
How logarithmic paper works, and which version suits exponential or power-law data.
- How to draw a cube on isometric paper
Draw your first cube in five steps, then build boxes, stairs and shapes.
- How to match a knitting chart to your gauge
Turn a swatch measurement into a chart whose proportions match your knitting.
- How to plot points on a coordinate plane
Axes, quadrants and ordered pairs, with a worked example you can try on a printed sheet.
Questions
Is GridPaperPDF really free?
Yes. Every generator and every PDF is free, with no account, watermark or email wall. The site may show ads to cover its running costs.
What is the difference between the ready-made PDFs and the generator?
The ready-made PDFs are one-click downloads of the most common grids on US Letter and A4. The generator lets you change the square size, colours, margins, paper size and extras, then creates your own PDF in your browser.
How do I print graph paper at the right size?
In the print dialog choose Actual size or 100% and avoid Fit to page. Print one page and measure it with a ruler. The guide to printing at true size lists the settings for each browser.
Which paper sizes are available?
US Letter, A4, A5, A6, Half Letter, US Legal, Tabloid and A3, each in portrait or landscape. The ready-made PDFs come in Letter and A4, with landscape versions of the graph, coordinate and dot grids.
Are my settings or files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your paper is drawn in your own browser, and your options are saved only on your own device so the page remembers them next time.
